
Lisa K. Muto, M.S.
Staff Scientist
Ms. Muto's technical area of expertise is organic chemistry. She has experience in environmental compliance and synthetic organic and organometallic chemistry, including original research, analysis and publication. Her current responsibilities include the review, statistical evaluation, and technical editing of chemical and biological data pertaining to the fate and transport of potentially hazardous materials in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, as well as production of the accompanying chemical structure files. She also assists in the generation and technical editing of fate assessments that integrate fate, transport, and exposure data from pesticides. Prior to her environmental work, Ms. Muto served as a medicinal chemist and the Chemical Safety Officer at Antex Biologics Inc. Her work included the synthesis, structure activity relationship evaluation, and formulation discovery research of novel antibiotics, as well as the storage, disposal and inventory of hazardous chemicals.
Ms. Muto holds an M.S. in Chemistry (2002) and a B.S. in Biochemistry (1999) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
