
Stephen R. Tannenbaum, Ph.D.
Consulting Senior Scientist
Dr. Tannenbaum is the Underwood-Prescott Professor of Toxicology (Department of Biological Engineering) and Professor of Chemistry (Department of Chemistry), both at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the recipient of many awards, including the AACR Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry in Cancer Research (2008), and election into the Institute of Medicine (1996). Dr. Tannenbaum has published more the 300 papers, edited seven books, and holds 11 U.S. patents. His current research focuses on four areas: the chemistry and pathophysiology of nitric oxide; tissue engineering for drug development and chemical toxicity; quantitative ultramicro measurements for drug and carcinogen metabolism; and development of biomarkers of inflammation.
Dr. Tannenbaum holds a B.S. and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1958 and 1962).
